The Sonia Vihar Metro Station is a station under Phase IV of the Delhi Metro and is located in North-East Delhi, adjacent to the Yamuna River. This station will be on the extension of the Pink Line, making this line the first ring metro line in India.
The Sonia Vihar Metro Station is nearly ready to be inaugurated! Being built as part of the Pink Line Phase IV of the Delhi Metro, the Sonia Vihar Metro station is set to open in September 2025. We’re very excited for residents from the surrounding area, particularly in North-East Delhi, and for those commuting to Noida and Gurugram from far away. With the trial runs now commencing, this station is part of the Phase IV expansion of the Delhi Metro and assists in providing a crucial link in the metro circle in Delhi. Meaning, quicker connectivity with all parts of Delhi and surrounding areas and thus, getting one step closer to improving the local traffic situation!
Nearby are the Khajuri Khas, Bhajanpura and Soorghat stations, and the new metro line is meant to facilitate movement for residents in areas like Burari, Bhajanpura, and Tronica City. There is also a considerable industrial development area about 7 kilometres away, which will hopefully lead to increased employment opportunities, new construction and business development with better metro access.
Sonia Vihar is an elevated station, which means it is built above the ground, so the traffic will not be disrupted and no waterlogging, as we see regularly during the monsoon in low-line metros or underground metros.
Nearby Areas To Benefit & How You Can Reach The Station

Once the Sonia Vihar metro station is opened, there will be a huge improvement in connectivity and transit to various nearby areas of Delhi, and even portions of Uttar Pradesh.
- Sabhapur Extension, just 2.5 km away! A great area for families and homebuyers. Prices may go up here soon due to better metro access.
- Bhajanpura, already on the Pink Line, quick and easy travel from Sonia Vihar to Bhajanpura will now be possible in minutes.
- Khajuri Khas is the direct neighbouring station, meaning faster daily commutes.
- Tronica City (UP), Located about 7 km away. With metro access so close, this industrial area will get easier links to the rest of Delhi.
- Karawal Nagar is a growing residential area. The metro makes it more livable and convenient.
- Wazirabad & Yamuna Vihar-With the new bridge over the Yamuna and metro connectivity, reaching these areas will become faster than ever!
- Chauhan Patti-You can take a DTC bus no.258 from Chauhan Patti bus stand to Sonia Vihar metro station.
Adding to these already existing means of transport, the Delhi Transport Corporation is also planning to add four new routes to bust traffic for Shastri Park and the surrounding areas, including connectivity to Sonia Vihar. People who commute to distant places from Sonia Vihar will benefit the most as this metro will connect you to Noida, Greater Noida and Gurugram, saving time and money.
Ways to Reach Sonia Vihar Metro Station from Nearby Areas
Here are some easy and affordable ways to reach the station:
- E-rickshaws & Auto-rickshaws: These small vehicles will be the most common way to reach the station from nearby areas like Sabhapur Extension, Karawal Nagar, and Yamuna Vihar, costing you from 5rs To 10rs max.
- DTC Buses:
- Route 258: Runs from Mori Gate to Chauhan Patti, passing through Sonia Vihar’s Pusta roads.
- Route 258STL: Connects BBM Cluster Depot to Chauhan Patti, also serving Pusta stops near the metro.
- Walking & Cycling: If you live super close, like in Sonia Vihar itself, you can simply walk or cycle to the station, as the distance is less than 1km.
As a result of the Sonia Vihar Metro Station being launched, property prices will obviously start to rise, and places like Sabhapur, Tronica City, and Karawal Nagar are likely to see a larger hike than localities further afield. As a resident or property investor, this is welcome news as better metro connectivity leads to better and more school, retail, and medical services in your locality. So this metro station is not just a journey enhancement, but a locality enhancement!
